Synopsis: Nine women imprisoned for different reasons (theft, prostitution, adultery, political crime…) live badly in a prison located in an unspecified point of Spain after the Civil War (between the 40s and 50s), suffering from cold, hunger, and almost no medical attention. The inmates are cared for by nuns, and the prison is administered by Don Mauro, the warden. Life in the prison is altered by the upcoming celebration of the Jubilee of St. Perpetual, for which, every ten years, the bishop grants a pardon to one of the prisoners.
